Hello there, GrooveShark?! Well while playing around on the computer, (seriously) I stumbled upon a yellow “fin” on my taskbar. Low and behold a music icon. WTF!? Spam I thought but after clicking on it I realized this “fin” had true potential. I discovered GrooveShark. I know we just reported on Spotify’s arrival in America, but how about a service that has been here and is just like Spotify, but a well kept secret (only 350 million people knew about it as of May 11, 2011).
Groove Shark is based out of Florida and created over 4 years ago. It has been functioning that long and works as a subscription service that allows you to pay for play. Subscriptions are $6 a month (or $60 a year plus 2 months free) for ad-free advertisement on your computer, or non mobile device and $9 a month (or $90 a year plus 2 months free) for service anywhere.
There are stipulations as of right now with “anywhere” as of the time of this post GrooveShark only worked fluently on mobile devices by going to the mobile site GrooveShark for your Android, Blackberry and Nokia devices. As for the iOS your device needs to be jailbroken for the “Shark” to bite. The webOS requirements need to be checked here before considering your purchase. Consider your choices wisely fellow consumers. The free version does not require a special invite so click here to start. Come back our way and tell us which one you like best and why?
