Word around the internet is that Microsoft is already hard at work on their next-generation Xbox gaming console.   Previous rumored codenames for the new console were Xbox Next, Xbox 720, & now codenamed the Loop.   Having been available since November 2005, Microsoft is prepping to continue its reign in gaming consoles by getting to work on the next Xbox.   More juicy details after the break.

The Xbox ‘Loop’ is slated to have a single, central processor coupled by spare cores for graphics, AI, physics, sound, networking, encryption, and sensors.   The ‘Loop’ is supposed to actually be smaller & cheaper than the current Xbox 360 (but not specified whether or not if it will be cheaper to make or cheaper for consumers) as it should run a customized version of Windows 9 w/ deeper Kinect integration.    Since this is slated to run a version of Windows 9, don’t expect this console to launch for at least another year or two.   Hopefully with this newer model, Microsoft can solve that dreaded “Red Rings Of Death” to make it a thing of the past.   I know because I went through like three of the original systems due to that problem and I have had no issues thus far with new S model (knocks on wood).
