Canon decided to step up their already renowned PowerShot G-Series by adding a higher tier.  Towards the start of CES Canon announced the PowerShot G1 X offering even more than their latest release with the G12; think a point-and-shoot camera on steroids.   The G1 X offers consumers a 14.3MP 28-112mm lens offering a wide-angle aperture of f/2.8- f/16, 4x optical zoom, ISOs up to 12,800, a 1.5inch CMO sensor, can record 1080p HD video @24 frames per second, a 3inch LCD display, and the company’s new DIGIC 5 processing system for more accurate colors, faster processing, & better image quality in low-light settings.
The G1 X is expected to arrive in February for your consumption with a $799.99 price tag geared towards DSLR users who seek a more compact backup and still shoot quality photos.   The price point may deter some of you from getting when you buy an interchangeable lens hybrid camera fro around the same amount of less.   I am very curious to see how the shooter performs in real-life.
