This evening in NYC, T-Mobile had a nice shindig for the media to get to know their new high-end device, the HTC One S.   There were bartenders on standby, chefs preparing sushi, music, and even the T-Mobile spokesperson Carly stopped by in her new black leather outfit.   And for the first time in a long time, both Tech Guys were present for to offer our first thoughts on the One S.

  • The One S is branded T-Mobile thinnest smartphone as it is about 7.95mm thick.
  • The S4 processor handles tasks/apps well along with heavy graphic gaming.
  • Although the One S uses a Super AMOLED qHD display (960 x 540) over an HD (1280 x 720) one, it still offers a brightly-lit screen with great colors & stellar viewing angles.
  • HTC is continuing to build their devices with an unibody design with a non-removable battery.   The aluminum finish on the One S feel good in hand.
  • Armed with the exact same 8MP optics & low-light senors as on the One X or EVO 4G LTE, expect the One series to be an actual Android competitor to Apple’s iPhone camera.  Coupled with the new Sense 4 & ImageSense processor, expect to take many great photos on this one.
  • The Beats Audio bass/audio boost software is always a welcome addition for music lovers.
  • A 4.3inch smartphone never looked & sounded this good.
