Earlier today in NYC, HTC and Sprint got together to unveil the newest incarnation of the legendary EVO 4G. Earlier thought to possibly be the EVO One, it is simply the EVO 4G LTE. The new EVO is based off the new One series and offers users a 4.7inch Super LCD display w/ 720p HD resolution, powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core S4 Snapdragon processor, running Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) w/ Sense 4.0 UI, dual cameras (1.3MP in front & 8MP f/2.0 lens & single LED flash in the back), Beats Audio inside, and a 2000 mAh battery.
The new EVO offers several new features like HD voice capabilities by enhancing voice quality & reduces background noise. Also the new HTC ImageSense software that offers the ability to take photos simultaneously while recording video and packs a Smart Flash that adjusts the flash strength based on the object within the viewfinder. The new EVO will be priced at $199.99 on contract and expected to launch sometime within the second quarter with pre-orders kicking off on May 7th.
No word at the moment in regards to the official launch for Sprint’s LTE network but we will keep you posted. We will be back shortly with the hands-on as we are reporting live from the event.
