According to Bloomberg, Amazon is working on a smartphone using the same customized Android seen in the Kindle Fire.   Amazon hopes their ‘Kindle Phone’ would offer Apple some competition within the mobile market share along with providing the company another avenue to sell its digital content (books, movies, music).   Due out sometime in November, the ‘Kindle Phone’ would be constructed by Foxconn (the same company that makes the iPhone & iPad).

To combat the string of recent lawsuits of infringements among Apple & Android manufacturers, Amazon has acquired several wireless patents to prevent the device becoming stuck in litigation.   Which is interesting because Amazon recently purchased a 3D mapping company, UpNext, to compete with Google Maps & iOS 6 Maps by TomTom.   No word on pricing or what the device may look like.
