It is now a known fact that Apple’s Maps app by TomTom in iOS 6 still needs work. There are countless rants & views all-around of the internet on the matter. Whether you think its fine as a work-in-progress or you think it is Apple’s fault for setting high standards, the Maps app is far from the now-gone Maps powered by Google. Spotted by a tipster from The Next Web, Apple is on a massive hiring spree for 17 Software Engineers for Maps/Navigation. So they are aware of the missing features like navigation public transportation, inaccuracies, and bad 3D rendering of various places of interest. There are a slew of third-party alternatives out in the App Store that can put you at ease. Cut them some slack people, don’t get caught up in the reality-distortion field. Apple is not perfect and neither are their products.

For those of you who loved Google Maps, help is on the way. According to the Guardian, Google already submitted their standalone Maps app and is currently awaiting approval from Apple. Not sure how long this process can take but sunny skies are coming from underneath the clouds. All that is required is a little patience. Which is something iOS users should be used to.
