Yesterday we were live at HTC’s Windows Phone 8 event where they unveiled the 8S and the 8X. These WP8 devices reestablishes the long-time partnership between HTC & Microsoft. This was a little bit better than the Nokia event last week as we were actually able to handle the devices but couldn’t get too much into the software as Windows Phone 8 isn’t a finished product yet. Now onward to the details.
HTC 8X:
- This high-end WP8 device has a seamless, matte unibody design that has all of the buttons flush with the body (don’t worry its done right).
- It is pretty thin and light thanks to HTC’s good craftmanship.
- Beats Audio on this device has a built-in amplifier for an even better sound in everything you hear.
- HTC decided to make the front-facing camera better by showing you more and improving the quality for photos/video chats.
HTC 8S:
- This entry-level WP8 device has a more stylish look with the two-tone color options while the 8X is one solid color throughout the device.
- The 8S is equipped with a pretty low-res screen that’s not even qHD.
- Unlike the 8X, this has the option for more memory via microSD expansion.
- Shares the same great front-facing camera abilities.
Microsoft is definitely prepping for an all-out Windows assault for late-October/early November time period. Along with the rest of the WP8 devices, the launch of Windows 8, and of course the Surface tablet the Redmond-based company will have a smorgasbord to offer the consumers. The real question is: are you buying?
