Also on Apple big announcement, Apple gave the Mac Mini and the iMac significant upgrades to make them even more desirable as we anticipated. Starting with the new Mac Minis, the smaller desktop computer now offers a faster 2.5GHz Core i5 dual-core processor, 4GB of RAM, and a 500 GB HD starting at $599. There an even beefier model offering a 2.3GHz quad-core i7 processor, 4GB of RAM, and two 1TB HD option for $999. Both are available today.
Now on to the iMac. The new iMacs got a redesigned body with a display that has become incredibly thin, like 5mm thin. Like every other Mac out there Apple dumped the optical drive for a thinner package. The iMac is now armed with a more current quad-core Core i5 or 7 processors, NVIDIA GeForce graphic processors, 4 USB 3.0 ports, and 2 Thunderbolt ports. The 21.5inch base model now comes with 8GB of RAM, and 1TB of storage for $1299 with options to put more inside for a price. The 27inch model is basically a Retina Display w/ 2560 x 1440 resolution and starts at $1999. The 21inch arrives in November and the 27inch comes in December.
Also, Apple has anew configuration option called Fusion Drive that combines the speed of a SSD and large space of your standard hard drive into one. The Fusion Drive offers 128GB of SSD w/ a 1TB HD (or a 3TB option) and is only available on the iMac.
