Microsoft just put out a statement in regards to several changes they made to some of their more controversial policies about their next-gen console: the Xbox One. Earlier this month, the Redmond-based company attempted to reinforce clarify their stance on the next-gen console always being online and their used game policy. And earlier today decided to have a change of heart after hearing the outcry of loyal Xbox community.
Here are Xbox’s new policies on the matter but there are trade-offs:
- An Internet connection is no longer required to play games offline. The 24-hour Internet connection is no longer necessary. No regional restrictions either.
- You can now trade-in, lend, resell, gift, and rent games like you already do today. Sharing games is always cool. But the new update will kill off the 10-person family sharing ability though, bummer. Also, the downloaded game disc will need to be inside of the tray in order to work. If a friend downloads one of your games, they will still have to buy it after you leave with your disc.
A day one update will be required in order for the new policies to take effect as company states that they had to wait until after E3 to change things. With this new bit of news, does this change your mind about getting the Xbox One? Or did you already pre-order a PS4?
