We know that all of the major players (Apple, Samsung, Google, & others) are working on a smart watch. With the popularity of the Pebble, the current technology is making desired/futuristic functions more feasible. Samsung appears to be prepared to get theirs out ahead of the pack.
Samsung wants to be the 1st company to make your Pebble watch seem useless.
According to sources over at Bloomberg, the company plans to unveil their smart watch at their Unpacked 2 event on September 4th alongside the Galaxy Note III. But instead of just being a second screen, this will do a lot more than that. Dubbed the Galaxy Gear, this will be able to handle emails, make phone calls, and browse the internet on it.
As far as the specs are concerned, the internals will consist of some power according to SamMobile. Like a dual-core 1.5GHz Exynos processor, GPU, 1GB of RAM, a 1.67inch AMOLED display w/ 320 x 320 resolution, 2MP camera, & Bluetooth/NFC support. Although these mockup and patent filing images would make you believe it, it probably won’t have a flexible display. Maybe on the 2nd or 3rd generation Gear.
