As no one was truly surprised about what to expect in regards tot he new iPads, the name of the full-sized one. Apple’s thinner 9.7inch tablet is now called the iPad Air and the 2nd-generation mini get a nice Retina display finally. We got all of the details below.
The new 9.7inch iPad Air shares the same super-slim bezel as the mini that’s 43% thinner at 7.5mm and only weighs 1lb. Inside is powered by Apple’s 64-bit A7 processor (giving you double the performance & graphics) alongside the M7 motion coprocessor form the iPhone 5s. Also you have a MIMO dual-antenna Wi-Fi antennas, a 5MP iSight camera capable of 1080p HD video recording, dual mics, a FaceTime HD camera in front, and retains the same 10-hour battery life.
The iPad Air will ship on November 1st as pricing will remain starting at $499 for the 16GB Wi-Fi model and $629 for the 16GB LTE model. Apple will still sell the iPad 2 starting at $399 for the Wi-Fi version as well. Not sure why so much for a non-Retina one though.
Now on to the 2nd-gen iPad mini. Apple gave us what we originally wanted w/ a Retina display. Also equipped w/ their new 64-bit A7 CPU and MIMO dual-band Wi-Fi antennas, the new mini has a 5MP iSight camera on the rear and a FaceTime HD camera in front. Pricing starts at $399 for the 16GB Wi-Fi model and $529 for the LTE version.
