Remember when we presented what Google’s smart watch may look and act like?   It’s definitely happening.   Google’s watch will be powered by Google Now (yayyy!!) as well as being able to pull info from your smartphone.  According to the Wall Street Journal, Google’s upcoming smartwatch is prepping to enter mass production in preparation for launch.  They are hard at work trying to reduce the power consumption so it can offer a better battery life for public consumption.

Also Google recently acquired WIMM Labs in late August via GigaOm.   WIMM was responsible for for their own smartwatch called the WIMM One.  Google’s interest in the company is the fact that they were able to build micro apps that didn’t require a smartphone connection and offered more functionality that just notifications.
This alongside Google’s engineers and the power of Google Now, the smartwatch landscape is about to get very competitive.  And we still haven’t heard a peep form Apple about their iOS-based smartwatch.  But according to CEO Tim Cook during their Q3 earnings call, he sees significant opportunities for new product categories in 2014.  I think we can count on the iWatch and maybe the elusive Apple TV (not the box, the actual TV set).
