In a surprising move, Android announced some interesting bit of news in regards to the forthcoming v4.4 Kit Kat.  According to Android’s Developers Blog, developers will have the option open up the Messaging API which will allow users to choose their own default app for text messaging.

This coincides w/ our previous report about Google Hangouts adding native messaging.  Looks like Android is getting even more open to its users.  So in the near future, Android users will have the choice of Hangouts or the 3rd party messaging app of their choice.
