Last year’s Samsung S550 Chromebook was quite the popular laptop. So popular that it was the top-selling laptop on Amazon for many months thereafter. For 2013, Samsung took the year off in the Chromebook arena. But according to the latest report, they have been working hard to return w/ a vengeance.
The 2014 Chromebook looks to step things up spec-wise. According to Business Korea, Samsung is looking to equip it w/ a 12inch display + 2560 x 1600 resolution, 3GB of RAM, 16GB or 32GB SSD, 7 -hour battery life, and powered a new octa-core Exynos CPU. The price tag is suggested to be around the $250 – $300 range.
For those of you who thought that Chrome OS + Chromebooks would be a Google failure, recent sales reports puts them outselling MacBooks and Android tablets for US businesses. Not bad, for Google’s cloud-based, alternative laptops. Now all we need is for Chrome OS to beef up its native abilities to match the upcoming hardware.
