Looks like Amazon is tired of just being goods/services company and looks to enter the hardware department. The image above was leaked earlier today from what is shaping up to be a controller for their upcoming set-top box. Yup. Amazon’s is looking to get into your living room with a streaming + gaming console.
Set-top box 1st and phones possibly sometime afterwards from Amazon.
As you can see the controller highly resembles an OnLive controller w/ Xbox button layout. You can easily see the Back, Home, & Menu buttons from Android. You guessed it! Amazon will utilize a modified version of Android just like they use on their Kindle Fire tablets. The button underneath it looks like Amazon’s GameCircle icon which is their version of Apple’s Game Center that handles cloud saves & achievements for gaming.
Their set-top box was supposed to launch last year during the holidays but was pushed back. Word around the Internet is that the announcement is coming soon – possibly before this month is done.
