After spending a few days with the new HTC One M8, I wanted to continue our coverage by touching on its camera. HTC is utilizing the same f/2.0 4MP Ultrapixel lens on the rear as last year so if there any performance improvements its going to be on the software side of things. I recorded some video and took photos within my short time with it to see what was so different and if there was actual improvement.
*This is focused on the One M8’s optical performance not its camera modes + features.*
So there were definitely some slight improvements made for the 2nd year of the Ultrapixel. HTC fine tuned the software that renders/finalized your photos. The auto-focus + capture is much faster than last year’s by leaps & bounds.
We will cover the features of the camera software in the full HTC One M8 review coming within a few days. Based on what we just showed you, are you willing to give Ultrapixel another shot? Or do you require more for your mobile photography?
