Over the weekend, the folks over at The Verge got the scoop on Google’s next play of getting back into your living room.  With the popularity of the Chromecast, Google is looking to take another shot at TV services.  Consider this Google TV part 2.  The screenshot above is taken from the upcoming set-top box from Google.

Google appears to have taken their lessons learned w/ Google TV and applied them here. So don’t look for a refreshed version of that but more so their version of the Apple TV, FireTV, or Roku.  The simplified UI  shows a great way to navigate through content.   We see app support for the usual suspects of Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, Vevo, & more.  But we also see apps like Hangouts, Google Music, Google Movies, and even the Play Store.

BTW, don’t expect the Chromecast to go anywhere as the 2 are anticipated to co-exist.  Google is said to be building the Android TV set-top box themselves.

This matches up w/ a report we mentioned last year so it looks like its happening and probably launching later this year.
