Google has finally released the camera app to the Play Store. Following in the footsteps of all the other pieces of Android (keyboard, Google Now Launcher) Google has finally made their camera app available. After the Nexus 5 was released Google announced that they would be bringing the camera app to the Play Store to give them a little more control of the update process for it. This release helps Google and the Android team make updates to the camera without having to release a full new version of Android along with it. It speeds up the process of updates 10 fold, which is great for us consumers.
The new camera app has been completely redesigned. It features a brand new flat UI, a new HD panoramic mode and Lens Blur. Playing around with the camera for a few minutes, I have to say it’s a really nice improvement. The UI is beautiful and a much needed refresh.
Note: Anyone looking to download the app, I had to go to the Play Store website and push the app to my device to get it. If you want it immediately I suggest you try that otherwise just wait for the update to push out. Also the update is for devices running Android 4.4+
