According to the sources over at Bloomberg, Apple is looking to add built-in song discovery abilities within an upcoming iOS update. But Apple isn’t teaming up with just any music ID service, its going with the best. Apparently they will be partnering w/ Shazam to bring its features to your iOS device natively.
You can expect to see Shazam pre-loaded on a future version of iOS.
In case you’ve never heard of it, Shazam allows you to see what song is playing near you by simply hitting the button. Using your device’s mic, it can give you the song, the album, latest music video, option to buy the song or latest concert tickets. Shazam will be joining several services already baked into iOS like Facebook, Twitter, Vimeo, and Flickr. No word on whether or not this will ship with iOS 8 or not but I wouldn’t be surprised.
With WWDC just a few short months away, we won’t have to wait long to find out.
