While the previous chatter of Android Silver led many to believe that it marked the end of Google’s Nexus program. But that may not be the case at all. According to the head of Android engineering Dave Burke who talked w/ ReadWrite, the Nexus program lives!
He said this on the matter:
“People have been commenting about Nexus because there is something else and they think that means the end of Nexus. That is the totally wrong conclusion to make. Android Silver is not something that we are commenting on right now. But the prospect of Silver doesn’t mean that Nexus is going away.”
Android Silver could be the evolution of Google Play Edition devices instead of a Nexus replacement.
While nothing has been solidified yet and Android L set to launch officially in the fall, we can safely expect a new Nexus this year. The question is who will be behind it?
