Earlier this morning, Ed Boon, the game’s co-creator (aka the ‘Toasty’ guy) took to Twitter to announce the next game in the Mortal Kombat series. It will be called Mortal Kombat X and will launch sometime next year in 2015.
The trailer shows the game’s arch-enemies, Scorpion & Sub-Zero going at it for the umpteenth time. Utilizing next-gen technology, MKX is set to be the better than the rest. We can see the return of personal weapons as well as interacting w/ your surroundings that allows you to rip branches off trees and beat your opponents with them. Also, returning are the X-Ray attacks introduced in the 2011 reboot of the franchise, which displays body parts getting broken and bruised.
The game will be coming to the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC. We can expect to get a few more details sometime between now and E3.
