WWDC is all (or mostly) about the software and the bread and butter is still the Mac OS. This year, we’re getting bumped up to OS X 10.10 and borrows more design cues from iOS. Along w/ new features and navigation abilities.
The line between iOS and Mac OS continues to blur.
We see a new facelift throughout the UI on OS X. Yosemite is said to focus on ‘clarity along w/ utility’. There are plenty of new changes coming along w/ the update like:
- New circular icons w/ flat design from iOS 7
- New Calendar views
- Better universal search w/ Spotlight
- Notification Center gets more details to inform you with.
- AirDrop now works with iOS and Mac devices for better sharing.
- iCloud Drive acts as a Dropbox-like cloud storage to use between your iPhone + Mac.
- You can now take iPhone calls w/ your Mac and much more.
There will be a public beta that kicks off this summer, while everyone else will have to wait until fall for it. It will be a free update just like last year’s Mavericks.
