While we knew that both companies would be focusing on more + more games for E3 this year, Sony is clearly the victor of the 2 in regards to what they're offering gamers.  Damn!  I had high hopes for the Xbox One to do something bigger this year along w/ some new games but alas we only got the latter.  Being an avid Xbox fan, I was hoping the company would do a bit more to fend off the PlayStation 4 but it didn't really happen.

Let's rewind the clocks back a bit to when Microsoft + Sony unveiled their next-gen gaming consoles w/ the Xbox One + PS4.  I was on the fence about upgrading - especially when I all of my older games will pretty much become obsolete.  Since then, I have pretty much been waiting for a solution of sorts to arise.  Better graphics, gameplay sharing, & a built-in Blu-Ray wasn't enough for me to shell $500 (I am a Kinect user) for new system and then buy new games as well.  I know I'm not alone.  I'm quite sure if they were to fix this, many Xbox 360 gamers would upgrade in a heartbeat as this would help Microsoft to outsell the PS4 (at least for that 1st month or 2 anyways).

I'm not upgrading until they fix this.

games with gold
Now fast forward to E3 2014, Microsoft looked like they wanted to appease the hardcore gamers by offering more games coming to the Xbox One.   But what about a way to play older Xbox 360 games on the One?  I mean sure they have the Games With Gold program opening up to the Xbox One but I'm talking about a REAL solution.  Sony has one and this year, they made sure to offer more details on it as well.

Enter PlayStation Now: Sony's cloud-based streaming service for games - more or less your only way to backward compatibility on a PS4.  Of course they're starting off small w/ only just over 100 games for you to play like Dead Space 3, God of War: Ascension, Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, Ratchet and Clank: Into the Nexus and Ultra Street Fighter 4 to name a few.  PS Now allows you to stream PS3 games to your PS4, PS3, & PS Vita w/ access to online multiplayer as well.   Older games from the PS2 + PS1 libraries on the way as Sony wants to use PS3 titles as beta.  Mind you it is still in beta like how well it will perform in real world situations but it more than what Microsoft has at the moment.  Now onto the exclusives.

Not sure if Halo 5, Fable Legends, Sunset Overdrive, & Forza Horizon 2 is enough compared to everything Sony announced.

Sony just had more/better exclusive games or content to share w/ the world.  Batman: Arkham Knight gives PS4 users access to Scarecrow's nightmare missions.  PS4 gets early access to a beta of Destiny and we can't forget about that sexy all-White PS4 console that comes w/ the upcoming Destiny bundle.  Little Big Planet 3 is on the way.  Sony gets early access to Hulk in Disney Infinity 2.  The Order: 1886 is an interesting title that's a Sony exclusive as well.  Dead Island 2 for the PS4 will get exclusive content.  The Last Of Us gets remastered for next-gen.  Uncharted 4 looks awesome as another Sony exclusive title heading to the PS4.  This is a much longer prargraph than if I were to do one on Xbox One exclusive content.

Sony > Microsoft at E3 2014.

I will reiterate again, I really expected more from Xbox this year at E3.  More what you might ask?  More games, more exclusives, more content, and maybe a few more Kinect titles other than Dance Central: Spotlight.  Project Spark has always been interesting but it seems like its taking too long to get off the ground.  Nintendo & Sony surprised me this year.  Both companies made sure to focus on their core offerings while still being able to innovate.  In comparison, Microsoft was outdone.  Sony took it w/ more exclusives and a solution to playing older content w/ PlayStation Now - simple and plain.

Who do you think took E3 this year out of the 2?
