Amazon apparently has been working hard behind the scenes as today they unveiled their very own music streaming service: Prime Music. That’s right. Just in time for a smartphone which is set to be unveiled next week.

With Prime Music, you can add your own music to create your own playlists. You can download your tunes to rock out offline using their Cloud Player – now called Amazon Music. Utilize Amazon’s X-Ray feature for lyrics. And of course, it will be ad-free.

Only 1 million songs at launch though, bummer.

The only true downside at launch is the fact that it only has 1 million songs to choose from. That may sound like a lot but to put in perspective, Spotify has 20 million songs to choose from. The reason is that Amazon has yet to strike a deal w/ Universal Music Group – the largest music company in the world. So if you to hear tunes by Jay-Z, Yeezy, Bon Jovi, U2, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and more; you’ll have to upload your own music by them. Hopefully this can be fixed within the next few weeks.

And that’s pretty much it. Amazon has added yet another piece of value to make having a Prime subscription worthwhile.
