Now we’ve already talked about the Softbank-owned Sprint looking to buy T-Mobile. After more word of the possible merger in the works, more details have emerged on the upcoming acquisition.
With Softbank USA, expect cheaper pricing + more data options.
According to a new report, the 2 companies would merge to become Softbank USA and kissing the former brand names goodbye. Sprint CEO Dan Hesse would step down only to join the Softbank board while T-Mo CEO John Legre would be the new CEO of the company. The only real thing of Sprint that is said to remain is their Family plan as T-Mo’s contract-free pricing would take over.
While nothing has been made official yet, the deal would still be subject to regulatory approval by the FCC. The new could be made official soon – like at the ‘Uncarrier’ 5.0 event or that event may be cancelled all together. Only time will tell w/ this one.
