The folks over at Polygon reached out to EA to get more details on their subscription-based EA Access. The good news is that you won’t need an Xbox Live Gold subscription to enjoy the basic features for EA Access.
However when you want to partake in multiplayer gameplay, that’s when Gold will be necessary. EA’s subscription service will cost you $5 per month or $30 for the year to enjoy unlimited access to their library along w/ early access to new games.
