Back in April, a company led by former Oppo finally unveiled what they have been hyping us all up to. While its already made it rounds around the tech circles, the public still has to wait before they can get their hands on one. We were among them. But all of that changed yesterday when ours came in the mail.
We literally just opened it up, set up accounts, added wallpaper, and began running w/ it. We still have quite some testing ahead of us as we dive into all of the ins-and-outs about hardware as well as CyanogenMod 11S. Let's go over our initial impressions below.
- At 5.5inches, the display is big. It is bigger than than the G3's 5.5inch display. But it is beautiful at 1080p HD + 400ppi, everything is crisp, clear, and great to look at. All without having a 2K resolution.
- The 13MP by Sony creates superb photos w/ great quality. Something that is becoming more and more present on Android devices. The front-facing is a 5MP as well to make those selfies/video chats much better. We'll need more testing to see if the overall experience is great or not.
- Sandstone feel awesome in my hands. Its like if sandpaper was sexy. Some may not like the feel of it but I obviously do. Looking forward to see how durable it is though.
- The sound coming out of the OnePlus One is pretty damn good too. It has dual bottom-facing speakers powered by JBL. Sounds strong and powerful to combat HTC's golden standard of BoomSound front-facing speakers.
- For those of you not familiar w/ CyangenMod, its almost like pure Android but more customizing. CM11S allows even more customizing to Android - like as if your on a rooted device. Change font, themes, icons, choice of onscreen or capacitive navigation buttons - all without having to go into the Play Store.
We'll let you know if that opinion changed. How it matches up w/ the latest Nexus, or the latest LG G3 in our full review coming soon. Tweet us or leave us any comments below or on Twitter.
