Back at last year’s I/O, Google named a few partners that will be contributing to the Android TV lineup of products. Earlier this week at CES, Razer unveiled theirs w/ the Forge TV. Now this isn’t to be confused w/ the Nexus Player as this is capable of much more.
The internals of the Forge TV consists of a quad-core Snapdragon 805 COU, Adreno 420 GPU, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, Bluetooth 4.1, USB 3.0, HDMI out, + gigabit ethernet. This offers the same UI + features seen in the Nexus Player but this offers access to Razer’s game-streaming service: Cortex. This allows you to stream PC games right from your desktop to your living room. The service will become available after the launch of the streaming box as a beta sometime in the 2nd quarter.
Since this is Razer, they made sure to offer additional accessories other than the gaming controller. Like a full-sized keyboard + mouse as well as special controllers as the box can support up to 4 controllers when playing multiplayer titles. The Forge TV will cost you $99 as it is set to launch sometime during the 1st quarter.
