TGSB hyper x cloud II review

Last year, Kingston kind of shocked everyone when their high-end division, Hyper X, unveiled a gaming headset w/ the Cloud.  I actually have a pair but due to our hefty queue of products to review, we have yet to get around to it.  It is an awesome headset that is comfortable w/ great audio quality. It works w/ your smartphone, PC/Mac, PS4, and Xbox One.

And in a short amount of time, Kingston is back w/ the sequel.  Earlier this month at CES, Kingston unveiled the new-and-improved sequel to it w/ the Cloud II.  It maintains all of the core features from the 1st on e but now w/ a secret weapon on-board for even better audio control.  Though we didn't get a chance to tell you all how well Kingston can make a gaming headset the first time around, here's to take two.  We'll break down how well the sound, the mic quality, + comfort holds up.  Let's get into it.

Design/Comfort

Hyper X made sure to spare no details when it comes to the design of Cloud II headset.  A premium build that makes it seems like a steal at the price you have to pay for it.  You got memory foam on the headband + leather-like closed ear cups that also provide noise-cancellation.

As far as the actual comfort of the cups, I can easily play or listen to music for hours w/ these on.  Comfortable enough to listen to music all-day at work and come home to get a few hours of online gaming in - even if you wear glasses like I do.  Kudos to you guys.

Sound

Kingston + Hyper X made sure to equip it w/ bells + whistles on the audio side of things.  It has the same awesome-sounding 53mm Hi-Fi drivers.  But it has now has a hardware-based virtual 7.1 surround sound for gaming on the computer.  Which can be turned on or off at the press of a button.  The USB-based audio control box w/ DSP sound card to access to independently control headphone + mic settings.

Throughout my time w/ it I was rocking out to that new D'Angelo Black Messiah, Fab's Young OG Project, Run The Jewels 2, and some Ziggy Stardust while at work.  Offering a great variety of bass, treble, & clarity in all of the tunes I rocked out to.  Then played some Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare via Xbox Live in the evenings + on the weekends.  Hearing every footstep, shell casing hitting the ground, energy weapon, & exo boost jump to become truly immersed within the game for an even better gaming experience.  Definitely a job well done.

Kingston followed up their original Cloud headset w/ another great pair of headphones for gaming + music.

TG 2 Cents

I, for one, am glad to see gaming headsets continue to improve in audio side of things.  Not only that but expand to smartphones or tablets for everyday usage outside your gaming console.  Keep in mind, Xbox One users will have to fork out another $25 for the stereo headset adapter.   In the box, you get a splitter for when flying in older airplanes, While this is the 3rd gaming headset my ears have been lucky enough to hear out of, all of the experiences have been great.  Kingston followed up their original Cloud headset w/ another great pair of headphones for gaming + music.  Can't wait for you to try these.
