Last time we talked about Google’s upcoming plans to become a wireless carrier, it was based on several reports and rumors.   It was to be based Earlier this morning, Google’s Sundar Pichai confirmed it happening at MWC 2015.

Don’t expect Google to go head-to-head w/ the big carriers.

They’re working w/ existing partners to create their own MVNO.  Previous reports have Sprint + T-Mobile already on board as Pichai said Google is in talks w/ AT&T and Verizon about their plans.  Google’s vision is to think of hardware, software, + connectivity as one thing and reinvent how connectivity works.  These plans include creating a seamless link between cellular data and Wi-Fi networks.  This would help to get rid of dropped carriers and to automatically reconnect if the call does drop.

So for those of you thinking it would be like another Boost Mobile or Cricket, Google has different plans to innovate in regards to their MVNO network.  They do hope the big 4 carriers could and adopt their features when they become available.  We can expect to hear an official announcement and/or more details at Google I/O in May.
