Last night, NVIDIA kicked off the 2015 Game Developers Conference w/ a bang. At their Made To game event in San Fran, they unveiled a new member of NVIDIA’s Shield family. Meet their rendition of Android TV.
NVIDIA wants to show your how to really game + stream on Android TV.
Their box will be a lot more capable to handle more intense graphics for gaming. This set-top box is powered by their Tegra X1 CPU as it is equipped w/ 3GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, 2.4 + 5GHz high-speed Wi-Fi, an HDMI out, 2 USB 3.0 ports, microSD slot, 5.1/7.1 surround sound audio via HDMI, and BTW did we mention it supports UHD 4K playback @60fps. It will ship w/ both a standard remote w/ voice-activation and a gaming remote controller.
There will be 50+ games available at launch via their Shield Store which will include titles like DOOM 3 BFG Edition, Borderlands: Pre-Sequel, Crysis 3, Resident Evil 5, and much more. Along w/ that, they unveiled their new game-streaming service, the NVIDIA GRID, which will support this 4K set-top box. All gaming content from the GRID will be streamed in 1080p HD.
The Shield set-top box ($199) and the GRID will both arrive in May. Are you planning on picking one up?
