Its finally here! Meet the newest members to the Galaxy S family w/ the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. Samsung made sure to put design 1st in this dynamic duo. From materials to internals to the overall look, this is the new vision of smartphones from Samsung.
Don’t look for microSD slots, waterproofing, and removable batteries on these 2 from Samsung.
For both devices we have Gorilla Glass 4 on the front + back, a 5.inch 2K Super AMOLED display w/ 2560 x 1440 resolution + 577ppi, powered by an octacore Exynos CPU, running Android 5.0 Lollipop w/ a new + lighter TouchWiz UX, 3GB of RAM, and choice of 32, 64, and 128GB of storage. On the camera side of things, you now have a f/1.9 16MP sensor w/ OIS and can shoot video 4K.
The fingerprint sensor on the Home button has improved as it is now quicker to read + no longer requires a swipe, the infrared heart-rate monitor remains on the rear, support for both Qi + PMA wireless charging, fast USB charging that charges 1.5 times faster. The S6 will have a 2550 mAh battery while the S6 Edge will have a 2660 mAh battery. The S6 Edge will utilize dual display features similar to what Samsung did w/ the Note Edge.
Samsung is also pushing their new mobile payment system w/ Samsung Pay to combat Google wallet + Apple Pay. It is built on LoopPay’s technology which takes advantage of magnetic card readers and NFC-based purchases as well. It will be authenticated w/ the fingerprint sensor on the Home button. It will be accepted in over 90 percent of retailers as it will work w/ both MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Bank of America, Citi, Chase, and US Bank. Samsung Pay will launch this summer for the new Galaxy devices.
The Galaxy S6 + S6 Edge is set to launch globally on April 10th. It will arrive on AT&T, Boost Mobile, Cricket, Metro PCS, Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular, and Verizon. They will arrive in White Pearl, Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum, Blue Topaz (S6 only) and Green Emerald (S6 Edge only).
