And lastly, HTC kind of surprised us all w/ something new from.  They have partnered up w/ gaming company Valve to  bring forth an immersive virtual reality experience w/ the Vive headset.  Valve would be providing the VR technology while HTC will be in charge of design.  

 The Vive will bring forth a full-room 360-degree solution allowing users to get completed engulfed in their virtual surroundings.  Allowing users to get up and walk around to further explore your VR space.  It will use 2 1200 x 1080 displays that refresh at 90 seconds to provide the imagery.  It is also equipped w/ a gyrosensor, accelerometer, and laser position sensor to track your movements.  There’s also base stations that can track your location in spaces up to 15ft x 15ft.  

When you think of VR headsets, you think of only games, but w/ the Vive they’re looking beyond that.  They have already partnered w/ HBO, Lionsgate, and Google for its upcoming other experiences.  Expect the Vive to become available for consumer consumption by the end of the year while developers can get 1st dibs starting in the Spring.
