While we think we know a great deal about Google’s forthcoming wireless network, there’s still plenty of little details still left to the unknown.   Thus far, we already know it will utilize Sprint + T-Mobile’s networks, being able to switch between cellular & Wi-Fi to offer the best connection, it make offer free international calling, and the Nexus 6 might be the only device to utilize it at launch.  But there’s still some  questions left unanswered.

Google has aims to be the real Un Carrier.

The folks over at Android Police dig some digging to find out even more revelations on their new service.  Dubbed Project Nova, the wireless network will run on an app called Project Fi (for now) w, the codename Tycho is from the .apk.  The app could possibly offer options to pay bills, check usage, request a new phone number/start a transfer, multiple payment methods, signup for auto-pay, as well as pause/restart the service – all from the app.

You will also be able to decide how much data you want to use or pay for every month.  You will get refunded for any unused data as well as pay the same price for data per GB as you would at the start of the month w/o paying extra.  You’ll also have flat rates for talk/text that will go up in price depending on how much data you would charge.  Calling & texting would be free of course minus MMS for some strange reason.  For even a prepaid service, you’ll be able to utilize multiple lines per account and offer shared data buckets.  To get on-board using a tablet, you will have to sign-up for data-0nly service.

The Project Fi app will offer the ability to switch phones like you would w/ Google Voice.  Allowing you to check and uncheck phones you want to use to take incoming calls.  We might see Google SIM cards for each device to pull this off.

Again, this isn’t go head-to-head w/ the major carriers but to be an innovative leader to inspire them to follow suit.   We expect a full launch at Google I/O in May.  This actually might be one of the most exciting news from Google in a very long time.  With this new bit of intel, are you looking forward to it or still not interested about it?
