While the Explorer editions of Google Glass is no more, that doesn’t mean Glass themselves is done for good. We know that Google was still moving forward w/ a slightly redesigned retail version of Google Glass. Last week, the CEO of Luxottica (company that owns everything eyewear-based: Ray-Bans, Prada, etc.) reassured everyone that a new version of Glass is in the works at a company meeting according to the folks over at the Wall Street Journal.
Hopefully, Google will address the privacy concern the Explorer editions of Glass brought up like subjects getting their photo taken or video recorded w/o their knowledge. This is why they were getting banned in many public places like select restaurants and movie theaters. So exactly when it ‘soon’ who knows? We do know Google I/O is right around the corner. Hopefully if we don’t get an official announcement then, we can get some better leaks on their upcoming wearable.
