android pay io
After the keynote, I got a chance to stretch after being cramped & sitting for almost 3 hours in one spot.  I played catch up on some posts and off to demo the new stuff.  Our 1st stop was seeing Android Pay live in action.

Android Pay is the evolution of Google Wallet as they can work hand-in-hand.

I was able to demo it using someone else’s phone & credit card (an AMEX to be exact) on a Coca-Cola vending machine.  It worked pretty easy as it utilizes the NFC chip on your device to connect w/ the merchant’s POS while not revealing your account numbers and such.  I used it to snatch up a bottle of water to make up for all of soda I’ve ingested over the past 24 hours here in San Fran.

The cool part that they didn’t dive into during the keynote is that Android Pay will connect your loyalty cards and well as your credit cards.  With over 700,000 merchants already on board and NFC in damn-near every relevant Android device, Android Pay will be ready to go live in the very near future – or in a few weeks.
