Another one of our expectations came to light w/ Google’s OS for the Internet of Things. Going live w/ the codename as Project Brillo. For those of you unaware there are plenty of smart products for your home these days like the Nest, WeMo smart accessories but no real way to have them connect w/ each other or control them. So that’s what IoT is all about and Google aims to be the one to unite smart products.
Google worked w/ Nest to create the OS as it will offer essential communications for the modern appliance via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Weave. This is their common language to communicate w/ smart devices as it doesn’t require Brillo and works w/ other platforms.
Other than that, Google didn’t spend a lot of time on it but developer’s preview will be available sometime in the 3rd quarter & Stack coming in the 4th.
