Remember the illustrious Apple TV that was supposed to come one day?  In Apple TV, I mean the actual TV headset not the streaming box.   At this point, it is safe to say that it’s not coming.  Based on the latest report from WSJ, it definitely isn’t coming.

It was supposed to be a 4K TV that includes a FaceTime video chat feature that would direct their cameras to whoever is speaking.  Apple was looking into 4K TV panels as they also experimented w/ things like laser-powered transparent displays in the mid-2000s.  But they couldn’t find any compelling ways to make their TV standout as they decided the cost & image quality compromises weren’t worth the trade-offs.  It was supposed to launch sometime last year but will be a no-go.

In the meantime, Apple is coming out w/ a newer Apple TV streaming box w/ Siri support, its own App Store, and a new remote.  Alongside w/ that will come a new internet TV service next month at WWDC.  SO this will more than likely be the next best thing  – or close to it when Apple TV gets 4K support.
