Last Friday, Apple announced a new replacement program for hard drives within their 27inch iMacs. They’ve found that many of their models sporting a 3TB hard drive that was released between December 2012 and September 2013 may experience HD failures.  They’ve found that a small number of drives have been affected but they wanted to make sure everyone that could be was covered.

This program will allow you to swap out for a new one regardless of it being within warranty or not.  Those of you who might or will possibly become affected by this, you have until December 19th to take advantage of this.  Afterwards, you’re on your own to replace it – which would involve backing up your storage & OS and then restore it to the new one.
