This has definitely been the time for the mid-range & unlocked devices. The OnePlus One kicked things off last year, then the ASUS ZenFone 2, the Huawei P8 Lite, and the now the Axon. Many of you may have heard of ZTE here in the US, but I’m sure none of you have heard of Axon. It is their new unlocked flagship device making waves to the market. Earlier this week in NYC, the company held a press event to unveil it and we were present to get our hands on it.
The Axon might be my new favorite Android device.
The Axon phone sports a quite some high-end specs for an unlocked device. Definitely a lot than you would expect from ZTE. It is equipped w/ a 5.5inch 2K display w/ 534ppi, powered by a 2GHz octa-core 64-bit Snapdragon 810 CPU, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, 3000 mAh battery, Hi-Fi audio playback, dual-lens rear-facing camera w/ 13MP + 2MP (like on the HTC One M8) capable of 4K video, 8MP front-facing shooter, and running Android 5.1.1 out of the box. While you don’t get wireless charging but you do have Quick Charger 2.0.
The Axon is priced at $449.98 as you can order yours right now from ZTE directly, Amazon, eBay, and NewEgg. Devices will begin shipping on July 27th. Definitely looking forward to getting more time w/ this to let you know is it really that good.
