If you’ve been following Microsoft and all of the Xbox One news from day one until now, you knew this was coming. You can setup up your cable box to watch TV on your console w/o having to switch sources. It already had a Game DVR feature on board so it was only a matter of time before we get the TV DVR.
You could consider this the return of Windows Media Center via the Xbox One.
Earlier this morning, they announced the new feature is finally coming to the console sometime in 2016. This would already support being able to watch free-to-air TV as this is what it will support at launch. You can record as much as your hard drive can fill – either internal or external. You can also utilize the SmartGlass app to record your favorite shows on the go as well. Nicely done Microsoft, nicely done.
