Looks like AT&T has solved the problem of getting internet in your older car. They’ve teamed up w/ ZTE to bring forth the Mobley: a mobile hotspot that connects to your car’s diagnostics port. This specific port is most vehicles made in 1996 and later.
The Mobley can power up to 5 devices via AT&T’s LTE network and requires very little setup. It powers up when your turn the car on and shuts off when the car goes off. AT&T is selling the Mobley for free w/ a 2-year contract and only $100 no strings attached. Data plans for the Mobley are $20 for 1GB or $30 for 3GB. For an extra $10 per month, you can add it to your Mobile Value Share plans it pulls from your smartphone data plans.
For those of you who don’t plan on buying a newer car anytime sooner, you can at least enjoy newer car features w/o the new car note.
