Even though Amazon may have bowed out of the phone game, they have no intentions of backing out of the tablet market. In fact, they plan on getting more aggressive w/ their offering. According to the Wall Street Journal, later this fall is when they plan to attack.
The Kindle Fire takeover aims to begin w/ a new 6inch tablet priced at only $50. That is cheaper than anything Kindle-related from Amazon. Including the Kindle reader which has a $79 price tag on it and half the price of the 6inch Fire HD tablet. Other than only having a mono speaker, no word on what other features/specs will cut on this super budget slate.
I hope this works out for them as many tablets around this price range are terrible. Usually they are ridiculously sluggish out of the box and running severely outdated version of Android. This 6inch budget slate is set to arrive alongside a new fleet of Kindle tablets later this fall.
