Now that the new iPhones are out and about, its now time to switch gears back to Google.   Google isn't done w/ their unveiling as this Tuesday is another one - focusing on their newest hardware as I/O focused on software.

Looks like Google will be doubling up on their hardware - literally.  Reports & rumors have us expecting to see 2 new Nexus phones for the 1st time, 2 new Chromecast devices and more info on the upcoming Android 6.0 update.  It is definitely shaping up to be a good time for Android users.

Let's get more in-depth on exactly what we can expect, shall we?

Nexus 5X

The Nexus 5 has been easily the most beloved of all of the pure Android series to date and Google knows this.  It has been loved so much that Google decided to revamp it a bit to match up w/ modern smartphone features/specs.  Enter the Nexus 5X.

So nice, they brought it back twice.

Just like the Nexus 5 the 5X is made by LG.  The new internal match that of a great mid-range device.  We're looking at a 5.2inch 1080p display, powered by a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 CPU, 13MP rear-facing shooter w/ OIS + 5MP front-facing shooter, either 3GB or 4GB of RAM, 16GB/32GB of storage, a 2700 mAh battery, USB-C port, fingerprint scanner, wireless charging, and Quick Charge 2.0.

This will obviously be the more affordable of the 2 Nexus devices as this would be their entry/mid-level pure Android device.  It will allegedly cost around $399.

Nexus 6P

While the Nexus 6 was a mammoth of smartphone as it was, Google is looking to do things a bit differently this time around.  Now instead of Motorola, for the 1st time we have Huawei crafting their flagship Nexus device.  So it's not the Nexus 7 since there's already a tablet w/ the same name but the Nexus 6P.

This will be the 1st all-metal Nexus.

This one is named after Huawei's flagship: the P8.  It has a completely different design from any Nexus we've seen previously.  It actually reminds me of a revamped & sleeker Droid X2.  We're expecting to see a 5.7inch QHD display, powered a octa-core Snapdragon 810 v2.1 CPU, a 12.3MP rear-facing + 8MP front-facing camera, either 3GB or 4GB of RAM, 32GB/64GB/128GB of storage, fingerprint scanner, USB-C port, dual front-facing speakers, a 3450 mAh battery, and possibly wireless charging along w/ Quick Charging 2.0.

This will be the more premium of the 2 devices as the pricing will reflect that at around $649.

Chromecast Audio

Continuing w/ Google's surprises is supposed to come as a  2nd Chromecast made specifically for audio.  This one will plug directly into speakers via headphone cable for streaming audio & podcasts and other forms of audio.

One of the more surprising feature is the addition of multi-room audio to hook up to multiple speakers throughout your home & play in sync.  And probably the most important thing was the support of Spotify to the Chromecast app & ecosystem.

A New Chromecast

We're also set to get a 2nd-gen Chromecast - surprise, surprise.  We're looking at a completely new design that looks much different than the current one.  Its looking like a bigger circle w/ a smaller HDMI port.

As far as whats new w/ it will be a faster 802.11ac Wi-Fi connection for lower dropped connections & buffering, new content feeds showing off a live stream of information, a new app arrives for both Android & iOS which will allow more content discovery, and arrives in several colors of Yellow, Black, and Red colors.

Hopefully it will retain its $35 price point or not go up too much in price.

The new Nexus & Chromecast devices sound very awesome and interesting.  Android 6.0 is looking to be more so the underling star of the show.  Not sure if we'll hear any new announcements out of Google other what was mentioned above.  If we do see anything new, a new Nexus Player perhaps - maybe?
