I'm not gonna lie to you all. When I bought my Xbox One last year, it came w/ the game Destiny. I played it, but I felt like I was running around in circles. So when I got Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare to review, I haven't been back. Fast forward to the arrival of The Taken King, I've been keeping up w/ the new announcements and game footage ahead of launch.
So when I found out I was getting The Taken King to review I took the time to finally go back to the game. Lo and behold, I didn't do much of anything as I was only on Level 6. But things are different this time around. I have a better idea on how to maneuver and to level up. So I had a few days to do as much as I can before it arrived. So on Tuesday, September 15th which was my 35th year anniversary on this earth, it arrived along w/ several other products to review.
Now it was time to become a legend - or at least attempt to in Destiny.
Kill The King Or Die Trying
For those of you who played The Dark Below DLC, you had to take out Crota who was the son of Oryx: the Taken King. So he has returned w/ his own henchmen called The Taken. The Taken is more or less redone versions of The Hive. In regards to the story, this is the basis of it. The new tale happens to bring the higher ups, who sit stand as the big table at the last city on Earth, more involved other than just going to see them.
Destiny is like a PC game that's always online as more expansions arrive, it will continue to go on. I've been focusing more on the raids, stories, and Vanguard strikes. If you are new to Destiny, skip the patrols unless you want to explore all parts on the game. The aforementioned way provides a faster way to level up. So typically in FPS games, headshots are king. In Destiny, that is only half of the story. As the higher your levels & XP, then you get access to better weapons w/ higher damage effects. In the TKK DLC, there are tougher bad guys who can take more than you might usually dish out.
As far as the new subclasses to arrive in TKK you got Stormcaller for Warlock, Nightstalker for Hunters, and Sunbreaker for Titans. Stormcaller uses electric bolts to taser everyone nearby. Nightstalker uses a void bow to lock bad guys down to unload on them. Sunbreaker puts you on fire while giving you exploding hammers on fire. Definitely a great addition to your abilities.
If you got tired of Destiny, 2.0 is something you might want to get onboard with. You got a better story, bad guys, and of course weapons/subclasses. So The Taken King is not quite your average expansion pack. It is more like an evolution of the game offering to the game that was missing from the original game + previous DLCs. Mind you it can get tedious playing to level up but if you like having the best weapons, it is worth the task.
The only bad thing about it is for those of you who are already Legendary status w/ one or more characters at Lv. 40, you're gonna have to shell out $$$ for it. The DLC by itself is $40 and the entire package is $60. As you can see from above, the screen name is Rodscott80 on Xbox One. So hit me up if you're on. I'll be playing other games to review, but I will definitely be playing Destiny a lot more often these days.
