Here we are at the end of October and with that comes the 2nd device from OnePlus this year. Introducing the OnePlus X: a premium device for a budget price. The X is a new territory for OnePlus as it offers not your usual mix of features/materials for a device like this.
OnePlus X was made for the unlocked, budget crowd.
The X is crafted from a metal frame w/ glass on both the front & back of the device. Think: Xperia, Nexus 4, or older iPhone. Other than that you have a 5inch 1080p AMOELD display + 441ppi, powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 CPU, 3GB of RAM, running Android 5.1.1 w/ Oxygen OS, 16GB of storage expandable up to 128GB via microSD card slot, a f/2.2 13MP rear-facing camera w/ LED flash + f/2.4 8MP front-facing camera (no 4K video but can records slow-motion of 120fps @720p), and a 2525 mAh battery. It will offer up an limited edition Ceramic version that adds durability and heft to it. It will replace the glass back w/ ceramic that takes up to 25 days to produce. OnePlus is only making 10,000 ceramic models BTW.
So you don’t have NFC, wireless charging, quick charge, USB-C, or OIS on the camera. The X will cost you $249 in the US on November 19th and on November 5th in Europe. Unfortunately, the OnePlus X will go through their terrible invite system – for only one month. Afterwards, it will be open up to everyone to buy, invite-free.
