As more automakers are getting more into connected cars, AT&T is the only carrier in the game right now as they are and will continue to supply high-speed internet to them They just added BMW to their list of vehicles that they offer LTE speeds via Wi-Fi hotspot starting w/ the new 7 Series.
But back to what you came here to read, AT&T and Ford have just signed an exclusive deal to now power Ford’s SYNC Connect. The new service will allow Ford drivers to lock/unlock your car from your smartphone app, start your car remotely, track your car via GPS, check on how much gas is in the car, and monitor your car’s diagnostic systems. The new SYNC Connect will arrive on this year’s new Ford Escape later this Spring.
Expect the SYNC Connect to arrive on other Ford vehicles in the very near future. AT&T hopes to power over 10 million connected cars by 2020 and at this rate, they will make it happen quite easily.
