Kia brings some new info to CES 2016 w/ their new Drive Wise sub-brand. This brings their autonomous driving technologies, which they have been working on, to light. This is Kia getting ready for the big autonomous driving boom expected to blow up by 2020 and cars to be completely automated by 2030.
Right now, we have self-parking on some vehicles but by 2020 they hope to get it to where that and self-driving on the highway are part of the norm and are in all new vehicles ont the road. Then hopefully improve to even cooler thing slike Traffic Jam Assist monitors and autonomous valet parking where you can get out of the car at the curb of your location and the car will handle the rest.
By then, they’re antiicpating we’re at the point where you can get picked up by a driverless car w/o having to drive much or at all. Tesla is already moving on that front w/ its Autopilot feature and other automakers are already working on their solutions. For starters, you got a Kia Soul EV, an electric compact crossover being demoed in Vegas at CES.
I love to hear compnaies pushing innovation forward nd moving us closer to the technology from Jetsons or at least Back To The Fture II.
