Idol 4Mobile World Congress announcements kick off w/ new goodies from the folks over at Alcatel.  Last year, they unveiled the OneTouch Idol 3 and made waves w/ their affordable flagship Android device.  It was a pretty good one too BTW.  Introducing the newest flagship devices w/ the Idol 4 & Idol 4S.  

No more OneTouch in the branding as it is now just Alcatel Idol.  

The overall design has improved as you can see in the image above and their internals get beefed up as well.  The Idol 4 touts a 5.2inch IPS 1080p display, powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 617 CPU, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of storage w/ microSD expansion up to 512GB, running Android 6.0 Marshmallow, 8MP shooter int he front + 13MP shooter on the rear, and a 2610 mAh battery inside.  

The Idol 4S offers a 5.5inch AMOLED QHD display, powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 652 CPU, 3GB of RAM, 32Gb of storage w/ microSD expansion up to 512GB, running Android 6.0 Marshmallow, 8MP shooter in the front + 16Mp shooter on the rear, and a 3000 mAh battery inside.  Both devices have dual front-facing stereo speakers w/ audio provided by JBL, Wi-Fi ac support, Wi-Fi Direct, NFC, charged via micro USB 2.0, and Bluetooth 4.2 support.  

One of the 2 big features about the new Idols are the Boom Key – which is a programmable button that cn do a variety of things like be a shutter button for photos, boost the bass while listening to music, activate special abilities while playing games and more.  The other feature is the packaging of the Idol 4S turns into a VR headset.  

Both devices are set to launch sometime in April as pricing will be revealed at  later time/date.
